Gifting Pistol to son under 21

In the state of MD, is in legal and how would I go about gifting a pistol to my son who is 19? It's my understanding that he may legally own a pistol at 18 but cannot purchase it. Is this the case? Sorry for my ignorance but, I find these laws very confusing and fool of loop holes. Thank you for the help.

I am not familiar with MD law but can tell you that the prohibition on FFL licensees selling to under 21 yr olds is a federal prohibition so it applies to all states.

Your location shows VA, so it you are living in VA then you must follow VA law. If you ar eliving in MD then you must follow MD law. I do not know the gun laws of these states. You should see if you can get a copy of the pertinent laws for where you are living to see what they say.

In PA, a father can give a handgun to his son with no paperwork at all. In fact it is: parent to child, child to parent; grandparent to grandchild, child to grandparent; and spouse to spouse no paperwork required. Again do not know about MD or VA.
