I have a nasty little .25 wheel gun in an ankle holster for a BUG...a P3at sounds like a much better idea!

It is very light, holds 6+1-.380. all for around 225. I might go shoot it tomorrow, if it warms up.

I have a P3AT and have the magazine extensions to give me an extra round and a little better grip too.

Anyway the trigger pull is so long and hard it cramps my fingers and hands after just a few magazines of shooting. I know I'll regret making that statement.

I like mine for a BUG fit's the ankle well, tucks away nicely. Close up I think it'd do it's job, providing you do yours...

were did you get mag extensions for your p3at?

    I love mine

I have to agree it is not much fun to shoot after a handful of mags.

I also picked one up a few weeks ago, should be a good BUG, after breakin, as they are pretty accurate under close encounter distances.

My P3AT has been nothing but a hassle. I bought it to replace a S&W J-frame as a BUG and pocket gun. I'm glad I held on to my revolver and didn't sell it.

When I first got it the magazines didn't seat right in the magwell. I sent it back to Keltec at a cost to me of $40 and they "fixed" it. After that it had so many stoppages of various kinds I couldn't get through a 50 rd. box of ammo. It was practically single shot. I sent it back to Keltec a second time at a cost of $40. The slips they send you outline what work they did and what parts they replaced. Basically they gave me a new gun, part by part.

It has had the feed ramp polished and a few other things smoothed out. I really haven't found an ammo that it was truly reliable with--able to go several hundred rounds without a stoppage. Mechanical problems aside, it is still a polymer frame, short recoil action gun with a really tiny grip, in a less than smokin' cartridge. If you wanted to intentionally design a gun that would encourage or be susceptible to limp wristing, you couldn't do better than the P3AT. You really have to use a hot load and be careful about having a death grip on it.

It sits in a safe because it is almost not even worth selling. I now use my J-frame as a BUG again. Plan on upgrading that to a Kahr PM9. A BUG should be reliable above all else, other than being light enough for either a pocket or ankle holster. Reliable isn't a term I'd use to describe the P3AT.
