Re: Springfield 1911
I think that's an older Springfield Loaded Operator.....and I think that they no longer make one with a full length dustcover.
STI does, though........

Re: Springfield 1911
You sure you wanna add custom parts to a Mil SPec? By the time you have a smith do it, you could have had a Loaded model........
Personally, I think a good beavertail and decent sites are a MUST on a 1911.

Re: Springfield 1911
OR...
It could even be an older mil-spec operator. Springfield used to make every model available as an "operator". They no longer make these, but they were simply a mil-spec model with a full length rail.
If you find one, grab it and don't let anyone touch it I think they stopped making these in the early 2000's (2003 or 2005, I can't remember).
But they do exist and can usually be had for around 600-800 even though they are pretty rare. The problem is just finding one.

They make some of the best looking 1911's you'll ever see.
Just make sure you get a single stack, they make double stacks also called
Instead of 1911 they are....2011

Re: Springfield 1911
Sorry, I didn't mean to say that the gun in the picture is a TRP, but that my friend's is a TRP Operator with full length rail.. They look identical, but his has a bull barrel.
I believe most models can be ordered from Springfields Custom shop as an operator with full length rail...ZRT -SECTOR-7

Re: Springfield 1911
The rail makes it look gaudy, IMO. Why does everything have to be "pimped up"?

Re: Springfield 1911
That's correct, and that model has been discontinued in lieu of the current MC Operator, LW Operator, and LW Champion Operator. The only way to get a Springfield Operator or TRP Operator with a full-length rail is to either order one from the Custom Shop or find a used one online. There were a few on Gunbroker not too long ago, but the only one I'm seeing now is here:
