Why would the camera be mounted in the transformer coil? That doesn't seem like a good place to mount anything, heat and the magnetic field would not be good for the part. I think that's a fake.

As someone intimately involved with this tech and it's implentation, I can say without a doubt this is fake.

Not only too expensive, but couldn't stream/transmit/store video for use. Thats for major providers, I can't see how a small time operation would use this supposed camera unless they are going to operate the possibility of video confrencing at some point. That would require use of the ethernet port and a high speed internet connection to move the information.

Thanks guys, put this up to see if someone with expertise in this area could confirm or refute this.

I WISH it was real! I sit in front of the couch with just my ripped and soiled underwear while eating cheetos and drinking clamada juice and fart half the night, and I'm not the LEAST bit attractive. All I really want is someone to see my hairy, pimple-ridden thighs as much as possible without coming off like a youtube slut.

thats retarded. There are no cameras in your converter box people...

either way, still to this day, I refuse to hook up a microphone and a quick-cam on my computer. But thats another whole different story..

With years of experience with video and network experience, I agree, no camera in the surveillance context. If it *is* a "camera", best guess it's an infrared sensor to read the remote control commands.

The "microphone" appeared to be a common disc-type potentiometer, a type of variable resistor. Without better focus, it's hard to tell.

I wonder, could this have been filmed in Papau New Guinea? (here's why) [8^D

    More techno-COTS and FSM-ism, I guess.
