Re: Booby traps of the Vietnam War
Sorry the site is down due to a database error (stupid freaking so-called developers) but I also have to mimic dman's post ... why go there?
My father was shot down over North Vietnam (jet jockey) .. he survived 3 days before the Vietcong got hold of him ... he has told me horror stories of the time on the run and the time in captivity (very short).
I would wonder WHY we would want to open that wound again.... it is a painful memory for our country and especially for many vets of that time.
Is there anything to gain by 'going there'?

Sorry all. I did not even think about all the bad memories. I didn't grow up with the war.
I do sincerely apologize.

Re: Booby traps of the Vietnam War
Don't sweat it bud .. trust me when I say the major majority of the members here are the forgiving type.... it's just that some memories are rough.
My mom and dad divorced when I was two .. the next memory of my dad was a tape he sent me that said "this is what Vietnam sounds like" followed by 20 minutes of shelling (yes he was a sick bastard) .. I was just a teen and wondering about the anti war movement and I got that tape....
Later on I had friends that were 'products' of that war, yes I mean fucked up junkies .. but they were good people that were hurt to the core. I hated them and cried for them at the same time ........ that 'war' was a fucking mess that many people will never get over.
With all the pain of war today I personally feel memories of the 'last bad war' are more than enough ... I honor my father and every vet that dealt with the mess that was Vietnam, truly I do but I also feel it's time to 'put it to bed' ... and again sorry to any Vietnam vets that feel differently
