PA CCW PLACE OF MASSED GATHERING

Hello All,

I recently moved back to PA after about four years away and I was hoping that somebody here help me with a little rumor control. I have read the "Where you can/can't carry" threads here and I couldn't find anything that addressed the following topic.

When my buddy got his LTCF in Washington county a few years ago the sherriff's deputy gave a little talk about whre you can and can't carry. One of the places they the deputy said it was illegal to carry is " a place of massed gathering".

Is this referenced anywhere in the actual statutes?

Unfortunately the powers that be will sometimes allow their own feelings interpret the laws to fit their senseabilities. This does not always agree with the laws that are on the books.

Its not an off-limits place in PA. The Sheriff is/was mistaken. I've detailed where its off-limits in PA, any other place is a untrue rumor. This isn't Georgia or one of the other southern states that prohibit such things.

It's been awhile since I dug into the regs that cover States of Emergency.

Is it possible there is something in there about more than 3 or 10 or some number of people gathering as armed or maybe any people armed or not? I wonder if this is the basis for said rumors?

Again, maybe there was an archaic law and the sheriff is really old?

I thought only Catholics had Mass gatherings.
Or maybe he was speaking of lack of an agreement between PA and Massachusetts.

I remember when I got my original permit the sheriff told me I could carry anywhere but a bank, a bar or a federal building. 2 out of 3 wrong.
