A 1917 vintage commercial Colt. It was Grampa's, then Dad's, now mine. Grampa and Dad shot competitive Bullseye with it and there is no telling how many thousands of rounds have been down the pipe. Grampa was the one that soldered on the Patridge front and bobbed the hammer. No doubt killed any collector value, but no matter... It's priceless to me.

Mine is a basic Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911-A1, but with some aftermarket parts I added.

Smith and Alexander SS Mag guide with integral flat mainspring housing.

King's Gun Works wide grip safety
    Wilson adjustable match trigger
Hand tuned factory sear spring @ approx 4.5 lbs. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/Gun...?p=0&t=1&i=349
    factory SA Commander hammer
    Houge Grips
    J&J products mag pads

But I'm thinking very hard about selling it and buying this Kimber,

Anyway, the 1911 is my favorite gun. It's still just as beautiful and efficient today as it was 98 years ago.

Last picture I took of assembled pistol

    Custom home-build - 1911 Build Index.

The front sight has been cut in the Heinie pattern. I cut the silly lip off the front-bottom of the grip. Except for the trigger and mag release (which I borrowed from a Kimber), the controls have been blackened. I think the finish build-up on the frame tangs or grip safety is causing binding. I tried several times last night, but I haven't gotten it all back together and fully functional.
Removed NRA Life Member pic. LaPierre and Chris Cox are ruining NRA.
