Gun Show Loophole???
Can someone explain to me what the Gun show loophole is? Does it apply in Pa? What are they trying to do to "change" it?

Re: Gun Show Loophole???
It's not really a gun show loophole.
This is the anti's way of stopping the face to face sales of long guns.
They want you to have to go to a FFL and background check for every rifle and shotgun transfer.
Just another step towards making it as diffacult to own a firearm as possable

Re: Gun Show Loophole???
Ed is correct. The FTF sale of long guns has always been un-restricted between residents. That is not a "loophole". There is no loophole. "Loophole" is intentionally deceiving rhetoric used for the purpose of creating the illusion of a "problem" that must be "fixed".

Re: Gun Show Loophole???
^ what they said. I don't know of a single state where you can make a sale at a gun show that is not legal outside of a gun show.

Re: Gun Show Loophole???
thats what I thought, at least here in Pa. There is no paperwork for a long gun from a show...right?
Thanks for the info. I kept hearing O talk about it and thought there was something I didnt know about.

Re: Gun Show Loophole???
You are not alone.
I wondered for years what this "loophole" was.
If I go to a gun show to buy a firearm(handgun or long gun), I have to go through the same checks/procedures, as I do in a gun shop/sporting goods store.
The face to face sales have essentially nothing to do with a gun show.
It could be called a "Kentucky Fried Chicken" loophole, since I can meet a seller in a KFC parking lot to buy a rifle or shotgun, and conduct a completely legal transaction.
"Loophole". Just a word that make ignorant people sit up and take notice.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

They use the term gun show loophole to imply that at gun shows no one has to follow any of the rules, but in fact the law applies equally at gun shows as it does at a gun shop or a parking lot.

Re: Gun Show Loophole???
What I don't understand is are long guns being used in crimes in the inner cities? I don't hear on the nighly news about gangbangers shooting each other with hunting rifles and 12g shotguns but instead with handguns? So why are politicans considering this to be a problem?

When you have a right you want to get rid of you simply name or call it a "loophole" and all the idiots will hear that and say oh yeh thats not good we cant have loopholes.
