    Red face 40 S&W rounds for a XDM40

    I recently bought a 40 S&W XDM40 and have fire 20 rounds through it.

I am finding it to be a beast to handle but then again I haven't fire it a lot.

I fired the Winchester and the Remington 165 gr rounds through it so far.

Are there better rounds that are easier to handle in this weapon?

I am hoping some of the sub 1000 fps rounds or the 180 gr rounds might be easier to control until I get used to the much greater than a Ruger Mark II, Berretta 92f (From Italy not from US), and Glock 17 (9mm) recoil.

Right now I am afraid if I am not concentrating enough I might knock my self in the head.

Even though I had trouble with recoil I was still able to hit a 25 yard pistol target at 15 feet and keep everything in the black ring with most in the orange center and still have most of my shots touching. That would be good enough for an intruder stupid enough to get in the door and past my dogs.

I used CCI Blazer Brass 180gr when I owned my XD-40. Never could get consistent with it and my accuracy. The problem is, the 40s&w is a "snappy" round, add in a polymer frame and you get what you have. I sold my XD, bought some 45acp's and have been very pleased ever since.
