Today I lost a friend.

Tomorrow I won't have to give a pill
Tomorrow I'll have one less bowl to fill

Tomorrow he'll not need insulin
Tomorrow he won't be stumbling

Tomorrow will come, tomorrow will go
I'll miss him more than you'll ever know

Tonight when I look up to the sky
I know he'll hear and see me cry

Today I lost a dear, dear friend
My love for him will never end



We miss you Buster brown dog.

My wife took this photo today, shortly before we made that last trip to the vet with him.

I'm sharing this because it may help others know they are not alone when it comes to losing a pet and because it may help me a bit as well.

Emptymag, I will pray that God gives you and your family the strength to cope with the loss of your special friend. I know exactly what it's like, through the years I've lost 2 dogs, several cats, and 3 birds. I cried for each and every one of them.

Sorry about your loss man, I know how tough that is, there's almost nothing quite like it. But the important thing is not that your trusted friend is gone, but whether or not he lead a good life. From what little I know of you, I'd be willing to bet that Buster brown dog did lead a good life indeed. He was loved during the journey, that's what counts, not that the journey has concluded. Every path ends, not all of them are happy along the way; the joyous ones are truly wondrous.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. I'm a dog owner and lover myself, and I have had to part ways with many great bird dogs and true friends.

Before I posted this, I scrolled up to that picture a few times. I would like to say with all due respect, that your picture along with the story is the best pic ever posted here. In fact, that pic is the best one I have seen in a long time. It's a very powerful picture. Why? I can't explain, but it shows the bond between you and your dog without a word spoken.
