    Default CARRY WHILE HUNTING

I know the games laws regarding packing while hunting and think they're ridiculous.

I have heard a couple of times that the law either has been or is changing.

    Does anyone know for sure?

Specifically while bow hunting it is a violation of game to carry any firearm while hunting.

yes , carry a revolver I believe. and you are only allowed 6 rounds. cause thats all the game commission carries, you get fined any more than that. I beleive it's $100 per round..

    Steve is right.
the laws have changed, and have brought the PA Game commission in line with the PA UFA.

previously you had to carry a manually operated handgun(no ammo limit), but could not possess a firearm of any type while archery hunting, OR spotlighting game.
Now you may carry any gun legal to carry under your permit for both activities, and may carry a semiauto weapon under any hunting season.
You still can't take game with your semi pistol however.

    heres my post on it:

Rendell signed into law the deal that you can carry a semi handgun, with a valid PA permit, in all seasons on hunting, this means ALL seasons, even ARCHERY.

he did this on Weds, Nov 29th 2006, to take effect in 60 days.

I'm not a fan of Rendell, but this is a good decision.

Pennsylvania Governor Signs HB 2563 Into Law!

    Friday, December 08, 2006

On November 29, Governor Ed Rendell (D) signed House Bill 2563, sponsored by Representative Ed Staback (D-115), into law.

This legislation will allow individuals with a valid Right-to-Carry permit to carry a firearm for personal protection while engaged in any hunting activity or other activity regulated by Title 34 (Game & Wildlife) of the Pennsylvania Code. This new law takes effect in 60 days. Currently, any individual with a carry permit, including law enforcement officers, must disarm before archery hunting and spotlighting. HB 2563 will remove any requirements for individuals who are permitted to carry a concealed firearm for protection to disarm while engaged in any activity regulated in the Game Code, including all hunting seasons.

The bill specifically states that concealed firearms are for personal protection only, and are not to be used to hunt or harvest any wildlife unless the Game Code authorizes them.

First, there was never, ever a limitation on the number of rounds you could carry. Ever.

Until recently you could not carry a semi-auto while hunting, even if you have a LTC. You could carry a revolver though.

As of this year you can carry a semi-auto while hunting, even in seasons that you could not do so before such as archery, provided you have a LTC.

Either way, you could carry 100 rounds if you wanted to.

Wherever your getting your information, get it from somewhere else because its totally wrong.

what I was refering to , was that you are only allowed 6 rounds in your gun at one time.as far as what you have with you that's differnet. I heard this through the DNR. But like mountain jack said there seems to be allot of opinions out there. I am more interested in fact.
