Agreed.

It makes finding good info a pain in the ass, and leads to more duplicate threads because no one wants to fuss with trying to find previous topics.

I've gone through my User CP list of previous posts to try and find something before.... every time I've used this new search tool we have, I get frustrated.

All these external links in the search results kill the point of having a search tool ON THIS site. If I wanted external links, and didn't want to find something ONLY on this board, I wouldn't search here, I'd search in a search engine.

Yeah, I gave up on the search a while ago. It's a lot easier to punch in google

That's what I've been doing, too. The site's search is useless.

That is pretty much exactly what the search does. I just do it through google's API.

I don't know if I'm the only one that's having problems with it but I can type in a thread title word for word and not even get it as a response.

The several times I've used it have all been total disappointments.

Unfortunately the regular search crashes the forums because it is terrible and our forum is too big. Hence the disabling/hiding of it.

how come we're not finding our results then? there's gotta be a way for the search to bring up better results.

I only use the google search at the top as a first try, if it doesnt work I go back to the old search.

The only thing it really needs is a way to filter down to "posted by who" "posted during a range of dates" and "posted in this forum, or subsection"

Just type /search.php into the address bar after the starderd link (http://forum.pafoa.org) and it takes you right to the old search function...

Then why do I get two totally different sets of results for an identical search string?
