Unregistered Handgun
I am looking for advice on what to do with 9mm I have. About 10 years ago my father bought a handgun from a coworker and for some reason the transfer paper work was never complete. Now I have had the gun for about 5 years locked up in my safe. I talked to my local gun shop and they didn't really have much advise for me. It was actually a customer in the store that suggested I check here. I have no idea of how to get in contact with the origanal owner of the gun. All I know is a name and I have tried to find him with no success. For all I know the previous owner is dead. If anyone has any suggestions that could help me I would be gratefull. Thank you.

Re: Unregistered Handgun
It came from your Dad, no transfer is needed between father to son or likewise. Stick to that and don't worry about it.

Re: Unregistered Handgun
There is no firearm registration in PA. That the transfer paperwork was never completed (assuming you meant a 4473 and were not under the impression that "registration" paperwork was not complete), is if I remember correctly the responsibility of the seller, not the purchaser (your father).
Your father can give you the gun with no paperwork (4473 form at an FFL).
I'm sure others will reply with clarifications or corrections, but as I understand things you don't have to do anything except enjoy it.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Re: Unregistered Handgun
Lol, It probley is. But, you getting it is perfectly legal. Now, your dad getting it. An not completing the paperwork isnt legal lol.
Thats why I said I think you should Contact a Law Enforcement Officer. Just to clear it up. So, you know your doing the right thing. Id just tell them what you told us.
