USPSA New Shooters Orientation, March 21st
There will be an orientation class for anyone interested in shooting USPSA (IPSC) on Saturday, March 21st at East Huntington Sportsmans in Alverton, PA. The orientation will consist of about 2-3 hours of instruction on the basic rules, equipment, safety. We will then spend time out on the range shooting some sample courses of fire. All those attending the class are invited to come back the next day and shoot the normal match at a reduced rate.
We are located about an hour southeast of Pittsburgh, 10 minutes from the New Stanton exit on the PA Turnpike.
For those not familar with USPSA, here is an intro video: http://uspsa.org/USPSA_Videos/index.html
I pulled last years flyer and changed the date. If any info changes I will post it.

Do you have an interest in "Action Shooting"? Maybe you've heard of IPSC or USPSA shooting and want to know more? Well, have we got a deal for you!
East Huntingdon Practical Shooters will be holding a new shooter orientation on Saturday March 21, 2009.
The orientation is free and open to anyone interested in IPSC style action shooting.
We will begin at 9:00 AM, inside the clubhouse, to go over safety issues and an introduction to action shooting rules and equipment requirements. After, we will head outside to the range to shoot 2 or 3 courses of fire - maybe 70 to 80 rounds. This is a great time to get started. There will be experienced Range Officers there to help you and the other new shooters get started. Even if you don't want to shoot just yet, come on out and attend the class to see what our sport is all about. The class is on, no matter what the weather is.
More info on USPSA: http://uspsa.org/USPSA_Videos/index.html
Here is a list of things you should bring:
1. Hearing and eye protection (required). We do have earplugs you can have.
2. Handgun – any centerfire 9mm or larger. No .22’s, single shots, or single action revolvers please.
3. Ammo - 70 to 80 rounds will get you through the orientation, but bring at least 150 to a regular match. (if you don't have this much, bring what you have)
4. Magazines - (or moonclips/speeloaders) as necessary to shoot a 16 to 32 round stage.
5. Holster - must cover trigger guard.
6. Mag Pouches- if you don't have mag pouches, a carpenters pouch, a fanny pack or even your pockets will suffice.
If you have any questions, please e-mail Ron Rodgers at rodgers.ron@comcast.net (724-309-7568)
Hope to see you on the range!!!!

Re: USPSA New Shooters Orientation, March 21st
We have been doing these for over 10 years, some years we get 6 people others we have over 30. We have a very experienced match staff that is great working with new shooters.
Don't be afraid of the shows you see on TV with USPSA, they usually only show the top shooters in the world. The vast majority of the shooters in the sport are at a much lower skill level (much slower). USPSA has 6 different classes for skill level within each of the handgun division. At a match you compete aganist others of the same skill level.Last edited by hzox221; February 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 PM.

Re: USPSA New Shooters Orientation, March 21st
Update 9:00 AM Start for the orientation. We will spend 90-120 minutes inside going over the rules, divisions and safety issues. Then we will shoot 2-3 stages outside, depending on the number of people attending the orientation. We will have 2-4 experienced shooters with each squad out on the range.
Any questions?Friends don't let friends buy Taurus's

Last Bump
Orientation is tomorrow morning. Weather looks like it will be in the high 40's - low 50's when we get to the outside portion.
This may be the only USPSA orientation in the Pittsburgh area this year.
If you can't make it tomorrow and still want to come out, contact your local match director and come on out to a match(You will get some advice and help, but not at the level you will tomorrow.)
We have several members from other clubs(McDonald) coming out to help with the range portion of the orientation. You will not get one on one mentoring, but pretty close.
See everyone there.
Monthly Schedule for Western PA USPSA
