12g ammo
i have been reloading shells for awhile now and i started to get into making some specialty shells for my 12g... now im wondering is there any laws that say i cant make certain ones... im looking to make flechettes, small lead spikes, small balls w/spikes, small razor disks, glass, bolo, just to name a few... now im looking but cant seem to find any laws

Re: 12g ammo
i'm not sure but I think if the public can buy some of these rounds (rubber, etc) then i think they're legal. glass and such probably just wont work well. Fletchettes, i'm not sure about because I dont think the public can buy them.

Re: 12g ammo
While it may be interesting to make them and try them out, I'd think hard before using them for any type of self defense. I can easily see a prosecutor making you out to be a blood thirsty killer for using something like that. This obviously fails to recognize that shooting someone with 00 buck has the same intent--to stop the threatening action. But given the hysteria about 'cop killer' bullets, the old Black Talon drama, and other uninformed foolishness, the risk of being turned from a victim who was defending himself into a 'gun nut with ammo designed to kill' is too great, IMO.

Re: 12g ammo
Its has only happened once in regards to ammo, and the guy used factory 10mm ammo. Arizona v Fish.. There were other aspects that really signed Fish's conviction.
For prosecution aspects, in PA his concern will be that you were justified or you weren't. I've said it before, if you were legal to use a 38spl snubby with factory ammo - you are legal to use a 120mm round from a M1-A2 Abrams tank**. "Force" has a variable scale equaling what is necessary. Deadly force is just that - deadly. And only has a minimum amount of force it takes to kill. There is no separate levels of death and dead, so the only fixed limit is the minimum amount it takes to kill.
**(NFA and Offensive Device laws for destructive/incendiary/explosive devices still apply)
For homeloads in PA - stay away from incendiary and explosive rounds if you're gonna make some specialty stuff.

Depending on what is construed to be a "device" - possession.

Re: 12g ammo
what could possibly stop an intruder better then lead?
for my house its #6 heavy game loads. thats quite a colum of lead. glass is lite, and i thought flechettes were designed to wound horribly and not killTo err is human, to be prepared divine
