Talking Where have all the 7X57 Mausers gone?

I was looking at ways to use my C&R license the other day, and I realized I was lacking a 7mm Mauser in the old rifle collection. Looks like I waited a few years too long to get one, or at least a decent one at a decent price. Not paying top dollar for a rusted out 1908 Brazilian model that looks worse than the $39 Special AIM had on M44 Carbines a few months ago, hehehe. I guess I will troll the local adds for a bubba-fied 7mm, and see what I can turn up. There are some scary hack-jobs floating around here.

Southern Ohio Guns has them for around $189.00.

I finally got the latest dealers flyer from SOG (web site has been down) and checked out the ad for the VZ-24-7mm Mauser advertised for $189. Ugh, Last time I grabbed a "Overall Good Condition" C&R rifle, it was a real turd. add $10 for hand select and $15-$20 for shipping, and I may end up with a $225 wall hanger, heheehhe. Hell with it, I may as well try it out.

yeah, their site is down, when they redo their site, that means all their prices are going up. i got my catalog today, late as usual, nothing exciting, its been over a year since i used my C&R. that price is a little steep for a mauser especially an odd ball cal. thats my two cents.

My problem is I don't have a 7mm in the collection, and those are a pain to find right now (cheaper ones).. there are some nice ones out there, but some are so pretty, they look like they should be in a museum. I'm looking for cheaper/shooter/beater. Guess the only C&R weapons that fit that description anymore are Mosin Nagants. UPS Just dropped off an AK I sent out last March, finally finished and ready to shoot, so I feel good for now, and that will keep me from Impulse Buying the VZ-24..... for now......... I still want a darn 7X57...... yep, I have the C&R disease bad..............

Its a Romy "G" kit , I had it put back together by Gary at Overland Industries in AZ, used an Ohio Ordnance Receiver I picked up a few years ago, and I had some Oak furniture made by some guy in Ohio, can't remember his name, found him on another site. I picked up a Romanian folding stock somewhere, so I had that put on too. I will try and take pics shortly, and then figure out how to post them here. (Haven't tried that yet at this site)

Hehe, we should start a Gary/Overland support group. I'm already thinking of what I'd like to have him build next.

(just got off of phone with S.O.G, 7X57 is OTW!.....praying to C&R gods now to please send me something with a decent bore)
