Tennessee Officer Suspended after Wal-Mart Assault

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --

A Chattanooga detective accused of assaulting an elderly Wal-Mart greeter who asked to see his sales receipt has been suspended from duty.

Police Chief Freeman Cooper told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that following a disciplinary hearing officer Kenneth Freeman was suspended 28 days without pay for conduct unbecoming an officer, improper procedure and excessive use of force.

The chief said Freeman must also be retrained in the department's use of force policy and take an anger management course.

Freeman was accused of pushing the 71-year-old Wal-Mart greeter in December. The greeter had touched the off-duty officer's arm while asking if he could see Freeman's receipt as he left the store. The greeter fell and received a scratch on his right elbow.

No charges were filed in the case.

Justice: The next time the officer goes into Wal-Mart, the 71-yr-old greeter promptly kicks him in the giggleberries.

Jeez. What's so awful about showing your receipt? Also, when is it okay to push a 71 year old person?

Sheesh, you can't even trust the police anymore!

Anymore? When did you ever trust an agent of the government?

Not that I distrust them, but I sure as hell don't trust them.

without details, it's hard to make any judgements in this case, imho.

the greeter "touched" the guy...what exactly does this mean?

if this means the greeter grabbed his arm from behind, the guy may have just naturally reacted by spinning around and knocking his arm away without knowing who was grabbing him or why. this, imho, would be a perfectly justifiable self-defense action...and something the media may well describe as a "push" and something that may well knock a 70 year old man down.

if, on the other hand, the guy knew what was going on and who he was pushing, then there is no excuse.

in either case, though, the greeter should, imho, be reprimanded at the least for battery on a customer. you just plain cannot touch people without their consent unless you have legal and moral justification.

SHE HAD TO CHECK HIS RECEIPT!!!!

Did you ever see how aggressive some of those wal-mart greaters can be? I could see a situation where she missed him walking out the store and tried to grab his arm because she was told by her manager that she "had to check everybody's receipt".

Those Wal-Mart greaters can be pretty persistent.

    And they have sharp teeth!

So I take it you've been bitten by a WalMart greeter then? Or is this an assumption that they file their dentures to a fine edge?

    Why?

Can you think of a place where there is a larger concentration of hung over, bargain hunting, ill mannered, foul smelling, rednecks at any given moment?

It’s one stop shopping for everything from suppositories to chain saws. Throw guns, ammo, and Mickey D’s in for good measure I’m amazed it doesn’t happen more often.

Hell if they had a bar I’d move in!
    FUCK BIDEN
