XD barrel question before I purchace
I am getting an XD for carry/training/gernral shooting. Can anyone give me a reason not to get the 5" barrel?
I vote the second first

Size doesn't matter?
Have you compared it to the 4" or smaller XDs? It's really personal preference.
I got the service model, because that extra inch felt a lot longer on the draw, and the service model felt more balanced to me... but then again, that how XD vs. GLOCK threads happen.

Re: XD barrel question before I purchace
The 5" is a little nose heavier than the 4". It was a characteristic I liked in my wife's gun, it made the front sight drop right back down on target after a shot was fired.
It's also a little harder to CC comfortably, but not that much harder. I liked my wife's XD9 Tactical, she loved it and hates herself for trading it off."Never give up, never surrender!" Commander Peter Quincy Taggart

Re: XD barrel question before I purchace
unless I were headed into combat, I'd stick with the 4".
I have both.
Actually, I have the sub compact as well, but prefer the 4" to the 5" for day to day use/carry.
(I have em in .40 and .45, no 9mm)
my favorite pistols, actually. I've thrown lead and brass all day long and never had a single problem with any of em.
