Go to your State Capitol April 28
The owner of this web site: http://www.savethe2nd.org/ made a post about this in another forum that I just joined. I haven't seen anything along those lines here, so thought you should all know about it. I also gave the site owner a link to THR in case he's not here already.
The just of it is they're going to do a national rally on the same day (April 28, 2008) but in 50 separate locations at each state's capital. I for one think it's a good idea, but without the people to rally it has serious potential to flop. Gun owners and 2'nd Amendment supporters can't afford to like a minority, so IMHO we have absolutely got to be there. It's a year from now, so with this much notice most of us should be able to get a day off work--or call in sick, or however you need to do it.

April 24 THIS YEAR
April 28 NEXT YEAR
Try not to mix up the dates. I would ask everyone to not post anything on next years event until AFTER this years event.

So there are two demonstrations. How large will the one on the 24'th be, and who all knows about it?

I hope it's not the 28th of this year. All the Gun owners of the COuntry would look pretty silly protesting the capital on a Saturday.

Re: Go to your State Capitol April 28
I don't see any benefit to a pro-2A rally. Like 4+ Million other Americans, I pay annual dues to a group that organizes folks of this interest.
That organization (not trying to start that "the NRA is or isn't doing enough" argument) has been demonized by the media, as have gun owners, and more specifically owners of assault rifles.
So what does a gathering for protest in Harrisburg do for PA? It's for the media to digest. What do you think it's going to look like when they're done? (A thousand gun-nuts showed up today, and the counterprotest, which had 5 people, had one whose husband was shot who blames the gun, and that's what the story becomes about).
I'm not saying don't go, I'm just saying I won't be there. I will continue to write well-reasoned letters to elected officials, editors, etc, and explain my views to individuals- every friend I explain my positions to comes away saying "I never considered that (individual rights) before, you're probably right" or something along those lines.
But I guess I'm not much of a "rally" guy.
