Will be Looking For a Job Soon

Harley-Davidson just told us today that as of April 3rd there will no longer be a private fleet. Looks like I'll be needing another trucking job by the 4th. Oh well, here we go again. I thought I had finally found the job I was going to retire from. Guess not.......

I'm sorry to hear this. At the very least they are giving you some notice so you can look for something else. (not that this is the best time to have to find something else...) *prayers and positive thoughts for you*

Yup! things are rough. I have no reason to expect any significant work this year, and my SO will be out of a job as of Jan 30.

Two words of advise. Don`t leave until forced to leave. I left early and bought a truck, the guys that stayed till the end got like 20K in severance I missed and some got jobs with the fleet that took over. If nothing works out try A. Duie Pyle right up 83. They treat their company drivers pretty good. I had 2 of my trucks leased to them.

I've been out of work since Nov 21st and looking for work right now is NO fun.

I met an out of work trucker yesterday at Pa CareerLink. I don't know who he drove for but he said he wants to find a new career.

I've been out of work since Aug. 19th. (Worked for a housing development company.)

Times will hopefully get better......if not, only 10 more years to offical retirement (if the money holds out!)

Maybe we should start a whole separate thread devoted to those of us out of work.

Today at the unemployment office almost every computer had someone using it looking for a job.

Just kidding. Any unemployed drivers in the Pittsburgh area, Pm me, there is a $3,000.00 sign on bonus where I work. Not just driving though, you really earn your money.

Thanks for all the responses. I will have severance pay and benefits until around July 6th or so. If i don't find something by then it might get ugly. I'm pretty sure I will have something by then. ( I hope ) Might even get on with whoever is taking over if they pay good enough. Hope all of you that are in the same boat find something suitable also.
