Does your holster really hold your pistol?
If you were to do a somersault. Would your holster hold your pistol? Can you say without a doubt that it will not fall out?
I have started to wonder, if I was ever is a scuffle, and fell to the floor, would my pistol stay in my holster? If I ever had to run, and then climb something, would my holster hold my pistol while I struggled over it?
Anyone use a holster they are totally sure won't let this happen? If so, what are your using?
I know most of you aren't for any kind of a retaining strap. But do you think there may be a place for these are they more of a hindrance then a help? The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

Re: Does your holster really hold your pistol?
I would never be caught wearing a holster without a retention STRAP of some kind. I have SEEN bugs sliding on the floor...

Re: Does your holster really hold your pistol?
I'm using a comp-tac CTAC, and I tested mine for just that issue. Dropped a snap cap in the chamber, closed the slide, dry fired, then used the built in lock to lock the action so the slide/trigger couldnt be moved preventing the snap cap from being ejected, inserted a full magazine and stuck the gun in the holster. Then I held the holster upside down and spent 30 seconds shaking it upside up and down holding it with only enough pressure to keep the holster from slipping from my hands. Gun stayed in place, so unless im walking around on my hands and start jumping up and down (still on my hands) for more than 30 seconds, with more force than I was shaking the gun, while the holster is clipped outside my belt im sure it's not going anywhere.
Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.

Re: Does your holster really hold your pistol?
I too use a thumbreak retention holster and have done a lot more than a somersault. I wear a DeSantis when I work the Clubs and have been in dozens upon dozens of physical confrontations and scuffles and never lost my firearm. Now, my other shit, baton, OC, cuffs is a different story, that stuff has gone all over the place
Be safe (and retained).

Re: Does your holster really hold your pistol?
The holster I'm wearing right now has a retaining strap. I like them. But, they can unsnap, just as any retention device can fail. Best, most secure holster I've ever used to keep the gun in it's holster was the Bianchi nylon military flap holster they gave us with the M9. With practice, you can actually be pretty quick with it, too. Lots, and lots, of practice
