Parkerizing a WASR
I am not expecting this rifle to be anything that it isn't. I am considering having it parkerized though. Any thoughts?

Re: Parkerizing a WASR
Kinda bumbed out that no one has responded yet...
I am thinking of having my WASR parkerized. I am not sure if it is worth it. I like the way the firearm is now but would have it parkerized with the hopes of extending the lifespan. I scraped together enough money for it (I know some of you picked yours up for 70 back when my mommy was still wiping my nose but times have changed.....) about a month or two before the election. With the current economic and election sponsored panic I have no idea how high prices will get. I have bought some extra mags for it ahead of the panic....
Basically what I am saying is that I think I may end up shooting this rifle for quite some time. Originally I was thinking I would stay looking for a milled AKM variant or finally buckle down and commit to a AR build but who knows now.......
So I am torn because I don't know if Parkerizing the rifle will extend its life or not. I realize I am being a bit neurotic. I try to take the rifle to the range once a week (may god bless ammoman for the reasonably priced ammo) and I clean it every other week. So its not like I am propping open the shed door with it.
Advice?

Re: Parkerizing a WASR
Did you get any estimates on the cost of this type of job?

I don't know of it's "worth it" or not, but Pa. Patriot does refinishing/parkerizing...

Re: Parkerizing a WASR
That was a joke, but gives me a ball park on what I can expect to pay.
