Why are magnums available only in revolvers?
and not pistols? Simple question, just curious. My only guess are pistols aren't strong enough to withstand a magnum charge. The only pistols I know of that are magnum are Desert Eagle, I don't know of any others. For example, a 357 mag or 44 mag pistol? TIA.

I think Coonan Arms used to make 1911 style pistols in magnum calibers.

Theres the Mateba .357 Semi Auto/Revolver
Wildley
A few others I can't name off the top of my head
Biggest thing isn't the Power, It's getting an automatic system that can digest rounds with a RIM.

A Guncrafters .50 should work for you or you can go Desert Eagle route.
I would go Guncrafters route personally.

I'd imagine the size they end up being is a major factor in why they aren't exactly mainstream, the few magnum caliber auto's are just huge and impractical.

Re: Why are magnums available only in revolvers?
Revolvers are pistols.
One of the biggest reasons why is for the most part, semi-auto's are relative weak designs. The next biggest reason is the size of a magnum cartridge is too long and makes a grip too huge for most peoples hands. Another reason is that most magnums are rimmed cartridges which dont feed well in semi-auto's. And for a semi-auto to handle a magnum it has to be build extremely massive to handle the cartridges without damaging the gun.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515
