Default Practical Rifle Shoot at Langhorne Rod and Gun Club

A change of pace this month at LRGC. It's gonna be a short course, with pistol, rifle and shottie stages. Shottie will be fired on the trap range.

Here's the complete CoF, the loadouts, and the match format.

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...oglegroups.com

For those that have not shot with us before, we require that you arrive 30 minutes early, or 0830 in order to attend a mandatory safety briefing.

New procedures starting this month will require a brief inspection of gear. We're not gonna dig under your charging handle with a white glove here. We only want to make sure you have a proper, strong side holster, eye/ear protection, and a serviceable firearm that you know how to operate properly.

Starting this month and for the remainder of 2009, the match fees are $10 members, $20 non-members. Also effective for this year - shooters under 18 years of age may not shoot the match on their own. We will grant specific and particular exceptions for this if the young person's parent has been shooting with us regularly. The parent/child must meet at the range on a non-match day where the prospective shooter will be required to demonstrate that they can efficiently load, unload, show clear, handle an induced malfunction, and repeatably demonstrate all safety practices required. If the shooter is not ready, please don't take it personally. Again, this paragraph applies to under 18 yoa only.

There are prizes that will be issued. We have Gold, Silver, and Bronze dog tag sets for this match. They are excellent, and it's likely we'll continue with them. We also have some food planned. A large pot of hot soup, and some baked ziti I believe. Please bring your own beverages.

Thank you all for a successful year in 2008. I just ordered eight new pieces of steel, including four spring-reset popper type targets. If these arrive, they will be used in the January match. I'm starting to get stage suggestions from people, and I like that a lot.

See you on the 31st and remember, we go rain, sleet, snow or shine!

Most folks use a centerfire pistol but I know of no restriction on rimfire.

    Sound like an awesome match.
    I will be there.

Can I use my Short Barreled AR?
Can we use optics, or is it strictly iron sights?
Are drop leg thigh holsters allowed?

Can I use my Short Barreled AR? Yes (please note that we will not check your Form 1 or 4 papers but it is strongly suggested that you have a copy of said documents with you.)

Can we use optics, or is it strictly iron sights? Optics are fine but remember this is a short course so I would suggest nothing more than a 4x ACOG. This match would favor a red dot sight.

Are drop leg thigh holsters allowed? Yes this type of rig is allowed assuming it is in good serviceable condition

Time to head out for the shoot today! Hope to see many PFOA members. If you are coming, please dress for the conditions as it may be a weeeeeeeee bit cold until the shooting starts!
