I'm sure this has been done before. I'm starting out in gun ownership and lately I've been working on a list of guns that I would eventually like to own. Obviously my knowledge is limited so I was hoping to see other peoples' lists too get some more ideas.

here's what I have so far:

AR - Kind of an afterthought, I manage to talk myself out of the idea, and then photos pop up on this forum of a particularly cool looking one, and I change my mind. One of these days money will meet lust.
AK - I like the feel. Not sure if I'll ever own one, or if I'll just talk my boss into letting me shoot his.
I'm not a big long gun fan, honestly. I like seeing them, and I like shooting them, but I have very little desire to own any. The few I have listed have specific purposes in a potential SHTF situation. I'd shoot em if I got em - that's what you do with guns. Just not as much of a draw to get them as there is to stock up on pistols.

Those are the three primary firearms right now that I actually NEED. The rest of the list in my head are things that I would "like to have some day".
