    Guns Recycled in Luzerne County

    By Sarah Buynovsky

Luzerne County detectives Wednesday helped unload 800 weapons, more than 1,200 pounds of guns, some of which have been used in violent crimes, including illegal, sawed-off shotguns.

"This serves no legitimate purpose whatsoever and these are the guns that are taken off the street," said Detective Dan Beky.

Some of the guns were seized by the district attorney's office, but most of them were turned in as part of Luzerne County's gun buy-back program.

    Now, they're all being destroyed.

"To get those off the streets couldn't be better. They're not able to be used in any more crimes and I'm not saying they all were but we know even in the future they won't be able to be used every again," said Assistant District Attorney Jeff Tokash.

John Allan donated his workers' time and his Wilkes-Barre Township recycling business to destroy and recycle the guns.

"We're cutting them into three pieces. They will eventually end up in the recycling cycle and someday the metal from the guns will come back as a new metal product," Allan explained.

With each weapon that was cracked in three, county detectives said they breathed a sigh of relief.

"So it can't be used against us. So it can't be used in robberies," Beky added.

Yeah this is a dupe thread. I don't feel like finding the other one, but I just noticed the detective saying a sawed off shotgun served no "legitimate purpose." Who determines what is a "legitimate purpose?" What a fucktard.

That is a shame. I can some what understand why, but if I was them I would have sold them to people like us and made a nice penny for themselves.

A sawed off shotty would be good for those close in rat shooting jobs, and great for those zombies that get too close to you.

Look at it, this way: by the simple rules of Economics 101, your firearms collection just became more valuable.

    Thanks, Luzerne County detectives!

Yeah, and it also made every single firearm in every gun shop more expensive as well. But I guess if I had every single firearm I could ever want, and had no intention of ever buying another, I would be happy for this.

...naaaah. Guns are still too pretty to be scrapped, even HiPoints.

    I like this line;

"We're cutting them into three pieces. They will eventually end up in the recycling cycle and someday the metal from the guns will come back as a new metal product," Allan explained.

Yeah hopefully they'll come back as NEW guns!

Yeah they all cry the blues about no money to fight crime but. they could resell them to legit and responsible people and make bucks. What a waste.
