by "coated by anything" you mean like a jel, or like chrome plated steel ?

i don't have any paper work on my bitone xd40 because i bought it used. i don't polish it, just clean it and wipe it off with gunzilla, and i think it looks damned good.

wish i could be more of a help, if you think i can be, feel free to PM me about it.

you know how they have that black coating.... instead of blueing they have that coating... cant think of the name... i was just wondering if it was like anodized or something that would prevent me from polishing it up to a mirror finish..

bitone in which way ? mine is a black frame with silver slide, and you wouldn't be able to polish that to a mirror. well i highly doubt you could.

i don't know the finish on the black slide. but again, i dont think you could get a mirror. i could be wrong, but i'm just basing that off what i have seen in guns thus far.

It feels like there is a coating of some sort because the slide is slippery as hell! well... about as slippery as glocks 2nd version of the tennifer. I wouldn't see any reason that you couldn't polish it up but I wouldn't expect to get a chrome shine to it.

id show you what i can do but i dont have my motorcycle on hand to show.... since its already milled it will be easier to polish it up.... same as polishing a stainless steel part for a car or bike..
