Since I'm on my second I think that you and I have a bit in common. We knew each other for about a year and didn't really like each other until she showed up at a surprise 30th b-day party for me, we started dating right after that. We were together for about 4 years before I popped the question, I was pretty gun shy after the first one having gone south. We were engaged for about 9 monts before the wedding, we had it in her folks back yard. All told we've been together just over 20 years now and married 14 and a half. Not too bad for the second go 'round. Good luck no matter what your decision.

5 years dating + 1 1/2 engaged.

Court House wedding ALL the way, unless blowing the money for the full-deal will have no effect whatsoever in your finances. In this day and age, taking a $25k loan to throw a freakking party is beyond irresponsible in my opinion.

We got married at City Hall, took pictures around philly (a friend who is a photographer), followed by a very small dinner party for our very closest friends and family.

It was perfect.

I first met my wife in a drunken stupor on the elevator in our dorm. About two months later I met her at a frat party. We hung out for a few weeks (she had a boyfriend) and when they were done we started dated.

We dated for 11 months before I popped the question (I knew much sooner, but wanted to be sure).

We were engaged for 4 years before we got married.

We've been together for 6 years now and have a 10 month old.

All told it's been more than 11 years that we have been together.

We got married at a winery. If you knew me you would understand that this is pretty much the only place that would make sense.

real deal. We had a great fun wedding that was totally ours. hot summer day, rented a place with a pool and volleyball, had a friend DJ, everyone chipped in, did it for around $4k and it was way better than the stuffy extralargemoneybigtime weddings I have been too
