Getting married, when should the soon to be wife get the LTCF?
Hey all-
My soon to be wife is planning on getting her LTCF. (Yes I corrupted her!) I was curious as to when would be the best time to get it. We are getting married in March, and I was wondering if we should wait till after the wedding or do it now. The reason I ask is because she will be changing her last name, and I am not sure if it will be better to wait (same last name for both spouses) or get it now, because the name change could hold things up. Any suggestions on this matter?

Yesterday would be better than today and today better than tomorrow. Once it is issued it is valid until the date of expiration, she can always ask the deputy what to do about the upcoming name change when she goes to pick it up.

When does she want to go for it?
Her answer is the only answer you need or want.

Re: Getting married, when should the soon to be wife get the LTCF?
She wants to get it soon, but we didn't know if it would be better to wait unitl her last name gets changed. By having the same last name, I thought it might be less of a chance of getting hassled if she has LEO a encounter with my handgun. I know we can loan each other the guns becasue we will both have a LTCF and once we are married she can be gifted any of my guns. I would assume that if we got the permit before the wedding, it would still be valid even though of her name change. (I wouldn't want to buy another permit for almost $50.00 in another 2 months)

If she gets the permit before the wedding, after the wedding and the name change, just send the sheriff's office a letter informing them of the name change to update their records. While this isn't legally required, it could help diffuse any misunderstandings, and should make renewing in five years easier.

It should be a condition in order to get married

That's what I did, and I will have to get my name changed. I'm getting married in April, but I just got my LTCF last summer. I knew I'd have to get my name changed, but to me it's no more of a hassle than it is changing everything else, and I can protect myself now.
