Talk about 'divine' intervention ... 6 of the Somali pirates that hijacked the Saudi tanker died when their boat rolled ... they say it was overloaded.

Gonna be money floating around the ocean for a while too.

Because most aren't US flagged ships, and as such, aren't considered sovereign US territory? This means none of your rights apply - it's just like being in a foreign country, except there's no embassy on board.

None that I'm aware of (thought I haven't researched it thoroughly). I did find a sailing forum discussing a recent story about a 16-year old that had a gun with him while sailing around the world. The discussion noted that Customs in many countries require that you declare a firearm when entering port, but they turned up no prohibition of guns in international waters, and acknowledged that it's widely know that American boats have guns on board.
