    Question anyone have a fft wrench?

    im trying to swap the parts of a upper i bought from a pafoa'er and all thats holding me back is the free float tube base any ideas???

    do you just need to get the barrel nut off that upper I sold you?

    If so you could do this....

    reattach it all up, and then use a strap wrench to loosen the barrel nut (with the anti rotation screws in), otherwise you'll need a FFT wrench...the tube itself is a YHM, so theirs would be best fitting.

    This is how lycan reccomended I do it as well if I didnt have the wrench or a torque wrench.

    most of the threds i looked at said not to go over 80 ftlbs so hand tight and a 1/4 turn it is

    Yeah, 30-80ft/lbs. SO...hand tight (hard) and go to the next gas tube hole. You should be good.

    Hopefully I will have the cash to buy the tools this time around...if not I know what kind of beer you like (the free kind )

    Though it looks like the larue rails dont need much. And my wonderful woman bought me an AR-15 punch set for Christmas.

    make sure to go little by little and check as you go to make sure you get it lined up right. You dont want to overshoot the hole and have to make it to the next one.

    i got it all swapped over today, i riged my own strap wrench out of a leather belt and a nagant bayonet got everything on the flattop and good and tight. it took a few time to get it tight and lined up but i did it!! now a bcg and a range report are next.
