    Default Suggestions / leather & 1911-5"

I`ve used a kydex belt holster for my 1911. I`m looking for a reasonable leather OWB holster. Suggestions?

These are 2 I`m looking at.

What do you consider to be reasonably priced?

Of the two you have listed I'd go for the G&G, IMHO it's of better quality that the Don Hume holsters.

It's much more expensive in the long run to buy a series of cheap holsters and replace them every few years. Spend once, cry once. IMNSHO, Don Hume is a bit better than nothing. G&G has a rep as a decent but non-spectacular supplier. If it were me, I'd drop a little more and find one of these: http://www.miltsparks.com/55BN.htm

I can second Shawn's recommendation of the Tagua. I like mine very much. I've got the one with the thumb break and my only complaint is that the thumb break doesn't fit tightly when you carry it condition 1. I had to modify the thumb break and relocate the snap so that the holster held the gun more snugly. If you go with the open top or you carry it condition 2, then you shouldn't have any problems at all. For the money, though, you can't beat them.

Bianchi makes some nice holsters for the 1911. A bit more expensive but well made and worth the money. Don't go cheap on a holster, get a good one and it will last a lifetime, thus saving you money in the long run.

I have the Bianchi "Paddlelok" for my 1911. Certainly a quality holster, IMHO, but would not recommend it unless you have a quality gun belt. My POS made in China department store belt simply doesn't cut it and it flops around way to much. Too thin, too narrow, not strong enough, etc... I wore it around the house/yard for a little bit and decided against wearing it out with that belt. I'm waiting for my "Beltman" belt to arrive to give a final verdict for me personally.

    Check out WWW.UBG holsters.com
I personally have an IWB, OWB, and a double mag holder made by Nate. Good quality stuff, decent prices, and fairly quick turn-around.
Also Mernickle Holsters, I have a SOB holster made by them as well.
Check them both out. Milt Sparks great holsters if you want to wait forever.

Thanks, I have bought good leather in the past for my other toys and let a decent piece go with my last 1911. I have been using kydex type with this one. Problem with many of the upper level makers is the 20+ weeks turn around times and add to that no paycheck or UE for over a year so I`m looking for a deal.
