Default M&P PRO/Long Failure to Extract problems?

I have an M&P pro with about 1,500 rounds through it and have had 3 FTEs. My friend has one that he has had a great deal of problems with FTEs. I have also looked on some other forums and read a bit about other peoples problems. Has anyone here had any problems with their pro?

That's a shock to me. I'm pretty sure I'm over 3,000 rounds through my compact with no failures of any kind.

Apparently people are having problems with several things; burs in the chamber from the melonite finish, weak extractor spring, end or extractor getting hung up. Some people have had success with replacing the recoil spring with a 13lb. spring. I have a match this weekend and after that i might have it sent back to smith.

Keep us posted how it works in the match. I haven't heard too many bad things since they worked out the mag drop-out problem.

Make that 5! That's right, twice in one match today. I will be contacting Smith ASAP and sending the old pro in for some TLC. The good news it didn't happen last weekend at the frozen penguin.

Got my pro back today! And it came back with a new mag as well. The included letter said they replaced the extractor. Part of me hopes this fixes the problem the other wants the gun to go back again for another mag!

Ran 150 rounds through the gun today as fast as possible (full mags one after the other). The gun was still dirty from the last jam when i sent it to smith. The gun ran flawlessly. It was the first time i ever burned through ammo as fast as i could run the gun. Needless to say i couldn't out run the gun. Looks like things should be good.

Update: I was at a sanctioned match this weekend and had 4 FTEs in the match. Im gonna give my good friends at smith a call this week to see what they can do for me. I have perfected the art of clearing the FTE since my new speed shooters specialty mag well makes the base pad hard to rip from the gun. Step one press mag release. Step two hit wrist against leg hard enough to eject the jammed mag. Step three insert new mag and rack slide. Step four shoot until next FTE.

What kind of FTE? Be descript and we can likely help you.

The spent round is left hanging half way out of the chamber and the slide continues back and feeds a new round underneath the stuck casing. When the jam in cleared piece by piece the stuck round comes out easily so its not stuck in the chamber.
