Disappointing day at gun store
I went to my favorite gun store today to pick up a KEL TEC 380 for wife,s birthday next week . She has wanted one since she first handled one a few months back .
The store was packed , which is unusual , finally got my turn at counter and was waited on by a fellow I had never seen . I told him what I wanted , he produced it and started giving me a sales pitch about the pistol . I told him to save it that I knew what I wanted before I came in . He asked if I wanted to put it on lay away and I said no wanted to take it with me . That was when he got around to telling me PICS was down today . He asked if my wife was going to carry the gun and I said " that,s the point of buying it " . He told me it was good that PICS was down because my wife would need to come in to do the paper work herself . I started to explain to him when the owner came over and sent him away , with a disgusted look , then told me to see him Monday to pick the pistol up . I got a feeling the guy won,t be back .Don't blame me ; I voted for an American .

Re: Disappointing day at gun store
Sorry to hear all that happened. I know your frustration, there has been times I wanted to reach across the counter and smack the guy on the other side for being stupid. My wife yelled at me one time when I asked a guy how in hell he ever got this job, that happened at Gander mountain.
Anyways, to the Kel Tec. My Mom has been looking for a carry piece and made mention to me what would be better the Kel Tec .380 or the Ruger.
I told her they were pretty much the same gun.
Guess what Mom's getting for her birthday from us!

I guess in his mind, he was stopping a "straw purchase".
Perhaps he doesn't realize that your wife doesn't have to be the "owner" of said firearm in order to carry it.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Sometimes someone trying to be "by the book" comes off as a smacked ass. Not defending the guy or anything but he had the right intentions. There is a time for acceptions but I think he may have been trying to cover his own ass.

Re: Disappointing day at gun store
it wasn,t so much I was irritated at him , but PICS , if he would have just told me up front they were down , I wouldn,t have wasted my time and went back Monday and dealt with the owner , as I will be doing anyway .
Don't blame me ; I voted for an American .

Re: Disappointing day at gun store
That completely stinks.... of course, there is a pretty decent sized show going on today in Oaks PA (down the street from Valley Forge), so if PICS is down, the folks there have to be dying.
