Default i need some advice on a pistol

i have a heritage 22 pistol...and its new and i cleaned it one day and put it back together and it wouldnt work right...the cylinder spins freely and dosent click like it should...and the hammer when i cock it and pull the trigger it dosent make contact...it will go half way down and then it has to move to the left so it wont fire and the cylinder wont spin when i cock it....any idea what might be wrong with it?

When you say you cleaned it. How far did you tear it down?

im not an expert on this sort of thing. i am fairly familiar with revolvers and such. what it sounds to me like is there is pivots in your cylinder that your probably already aware of. now theres also a part on your frame where it specifically turns your cylinder and locks it in firing position where you simple pull the trigger. so if it worked fine before you put it together and now it doesnt maybe the cylinder isnt "lined up" exactly right or the cylinder/the other part that i cant remember the name to is broken/worn or any number of things

See if you can find a blow-up of your gun or almost any old style single action. The problem is probably in the pawl which I seem to remember was connected to the hammer. In the future is not normally necessary to totally dis-assemble a wheelgun unless there is a problem.

As I recall on my old Remington 1858 New Army there is a spring or strut under the trigger guard that put's pressure on the pin that fit's into the divets around the cylinder. Sounds like it might be in backwards as to the other issue I am not sure.I hope this might help you out.

Not knowing how far apart you went with it, it sounds like the cylinder hand or cylinder bolt is not operating correctly.

There should be an exploded drawing in your owners manual.
