Default Just bought a Milled RPK.....

    kit.

I got a yugo kit from a guy on the AK forum with a new ORF milled reciever, decent pre finished wood and a good barrel (Heavy ribbed)for $550. Ever since looking over the different guns that people had at the RWB AK shoot at LRGC I have had a hankering to move up from my WASR into something a lil nicer. The WASR shoots fine and is reliable, but I noticed some of the other flavors of AK had minor but interesting differences to them and the milled recievers really stand out.

Ill probably wind up redoing the furniture in somthing like Russian Red and re park the whole thing to look like new. I wonder if it would be worth it to blue the whole thing. I did some small parts by bead blasting and using cold blue on then and they came out fantastic.

    Hey, congrats!

Post some photos. Russian red sounds nice. Did you get the kit together yet?

Unless these are unique receivers ... all those pictures are of stamped RPK. Either way, it's going to be a great rifle. The RPKs are very nice.

Wish I would have picked up one before the prices went sky high.

    Damn, MoJo knows his AK's!

None of these are milled recievers, but they are pics of what I hope to have when Im finished......Only Ill have a lil milled bling to brag about. I just think the milled recievers really stand out over the stamped, similar to how the dimpled stamped recievers look better than the WASR type.

I have two drum mags that I picked up at the last show, but I would like to also pick up the correct 40rd mags if possable.

They just look Badass with the Romy drums on them.

Took forever but I found the add with a pic of my kit. Kit also has the correct milled top cover and is arsenal matched to the receiver .

looks nice, maybe its the pic but it seems like that barrel is a bit shorter than other RPKs I've seen

The Youg's have a shorter but heavier barrel and they be recognized by the cooling fins. This made for a better machine gun as it dissapated heat better and it was slightly more accurate as there was less barrel harmonics between shots.

It would also seem to handle better, IMO.

That is a nice kit RBW.
And that wood looks like it's pretty good shape too.

The milled receivers just look so much more authentic on an AK..
I love the solid feel of the milled receiver..
Can't wait to see some finished pics..

    Good luck with it.
