Moving to NC

I have a friend (PA resident) that is moving to NC. If that friend legaly owns firearms (pistols and/or rifles/shotguns) is there any required reporting/registry process that my friend should be aware of when getting established in NC? Any links or info would be appriciated.

The currently relevant question for the person is regarding having a shotty for home defense. (not so much for CCW and what-not)
