Cocking a 1911
In dry firing, does it put extra strain on the gun by manually cocking the hammer rather than racking the slide.
Thanks

No.
You can manually cock the hammer on a 1911 without issue or concern.
You can dry fire a fully-assembled 1911 without issue or concern.
However, NEVER dry fire a 1911 with the slide OFF the frame. The hammer shank strikes the frame and can raise a burr or chip the frame.
