Default Shooting is becoming very expensive.

I think eventually shooting is going to become way to expensive. With a box of 9mm at 10 dollars a box and still rising the future doesn't look good. Also with ranges disappearing by the day there won't be anyplace to shoot.
Just wondering what other opinions are on this and what might be a solution.

Buy an AR or .357, then the 9m for $9/50 wont seem so bad. Im just getting back into this hobby after a 20yr absence so the price of ammo dosent hurt so much for me. I see some rounds as a relative bargain considering Im paying .40c a round for my favorite .223, almost a buck for Slugs and nearly $2 a pop for some of the Shotgun ammo I like to keep on hand. Even Winny buckshot is a buck a round.....

    I guess its all relative.

Stock up now, make weekly purchases of 1000rd lots of ammo so you dont have to worry. Either that, or get a second job to support your habit lol.

It is...I don't shoot my centerfires that much. Every now and then...but not that much.

9mm is still OK, as is 9x18 m
Makarov...and the surplus 7.62x25 is cheap.

I still have 8mm and 7.62x54 stocked up...but don't want to run through it fast so I shoot it sparingly.

.303 is expensive...haven't shot it in a year. Too bad too, Enfields are nice.

    7.5 Swiss...pricey

    .30-30 is still OK

8x56...forget it..I have about 100 rounds on clips saved up, doubt I'll shoot it much.

    7.62 Nagant is pricey...

.32SW Long is up there now too...I still need a nice revolver to shoot this round instead of my Nagant. I like this cartridge for some reason.

7.62x39 is up there, and tough to find...but not outrageous like .223(which I'm glad I don't own now)

Now .22LR...sure it went up but it is still the greatest thing you can own. Every range session you should have a .22 with you. Any kind...rifle...pistol...revolver..singe shot...bolt action...semi-auto...don't matter.

You can buy 100 rounds for $1.47 at Wal-Mart. You can stock up easily.

If you don't have a .22LR go buy one.

I aquired a 12ga & 200 rds of target pretty cheap the other day.

I've been looking for a 12 ga for my kid. Stopped in a local shop to take a look at what they had. While I was looking an older guy (70+) walked in with a shotgun he wanted rid of, story goes he's moving to Florida and doesn't want the gun, he bought it new back in the late 60's or early '70's. Of course he always kept it well lubed with WD40.
Yeah, it would barely cycle...but overall condition was pretty good.
The shop owner didn't want it either.
So I bought a Savage model 67D for $25.00, brought it home tore it all apart and cleaned it with brake cleaner. Then tossed the receiver in my parts washer. After a lot of scrubbing & reassembly its function and fitment of parts is great!
I walked out of the gun shop with all that for under $50!
It will probably never happen again in my lifetime.
But I'll never have the fear of my kid dropping on of my shotties in the mud.

Scrap metal prices are coming down, don`t worry be happy that you can still shot. My 270 WSM ammo is expensive but I WILL reload shortly thanks to Arch007er. My reloading room is not that far off.
