Default my AMD-65 that PA Patriot assembled for me...56K WARNING, big pics...

visited his place this past Saturday, and Rich built up my OOW Receiver, and Tapco AMD kit, both of which I had in boxes since late 2004 or so.

the man has AK building talent, and all the proper tools to do a perfect rivet build...I would have been happy with a screw build.

He even fixed all the out of spec issues these Ohio Ordnance Works receivers had (low safety hole, etc) and fixed a poorly fitted bolt to trunnion lockup.

he didn't do a refinish, the receiver I painted with Rustoleum Satin Black, the rest of the kit has the hungarian original finish.

Dunno if I'll refinish, seems ok to me.

forgot to install the cleaning rod for the pics.

sorry for the HUGE pics, they were much bigger til i resized them

    Richs site is http://www.frontlinearmory.com

Good lookin rifle. But since I know absolutely dick about AK's, let me ask. Is that vfg supposed to be like that, or is it on backwards?

    supposed to be like that.

if it faced backwards like the rear grip, you could not insert a magazine.

standard AMD-65s have a shorter brake, and different style pistolgrips....its the same grip, one facing forward, one facing rear.

I dont know who took the below pic, but the brake is 90 degrees off

Nice. The front grip does look a little funky.

I love my AMD. People often ask what you are shooting. It is also real loud. Love the grips on yours thinking of going with gray.

I like my AMD, but there is one thing about it HATE. The button you press to fold it is the most evil and painful thing ever to be put on an AK. If you have big hands, this button will rest right against the top of your thumb, and wear and wear and wear at your skin. It makes for a rather uncomfortable shooting experience. The AMDs, I'm pretty sure, were originally designated for tankers as a short and easy to store firearm. I guess the button didn't matter, as the users would be wearing gloves? Just a guess.

Rich, you did a nice job on it!
