Can your dog do this
I have thought about trying this. I have even built a few carts. I hook my Saints up once in a while, just for exercise.

Re: Can your dog do this
No mine can't, he can't pay attention that long.
That will speed up bad hips and vet bills on a dog that doesn't live very long to begin with I'd imagine.

Re: Can your dog do this
Yes, or at least the one I once had could do it. Similar to the last dog, mine was a American Pit Bull Terrier/Staffordshire Terrier and we would compete them at Diamond C Kennels in Alpha, NJ. Another event my dog would do is hang, by bite, on a rope, sometimes for 1.5 hours+. It was a good time. And with it the usual cast of characters that go along with owning such a breed Mine were always farm working dogs, mostly varmint control. My main one, at the time of her demise, had killed over 40 porcupines, that's right, 40! Over 20 of them lead to a trip, and payment, to the Vet Not really the varmints I was worried about.
Be safe (and have a working dog).

Re: Can your dog do this
Some dogs were bred to hunt, some were bred for looks. Some were bred to work. By working I mean herding, protection or to pull carts. Yes dogs were used in much the way horses are. In no way could the do the same work as a horse, but they did pull small carts, and work for their keep.
Weight pulling is a sport much the same as agility. Yes a dog could become injured by doing this. If an owner over does it with the dog the dog could become injured. Then again a dog could become injured by doing agility, or jumping while hunting.
Like any sport, the human or dog should be examined to insure the subject is healthy enough to do its sport.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: Can your dog do this
MY dog could probably pull the rops on that thing a few feet, but he would be more likely to cut through them!
NormanVin, when your Dogs pull, I want to be in the cutting room for the video err ropes...
