carry in PA state parks
I saw a West Virginia notice that carry in PA state parks is now legal as of December 17, 2008. Does anyone know about this or where to find out? Thank you.

This was passed when Rendell signed HB1845 into law. You can refer to this at handgunlaw.us . I am linking you to the off limits documents. Just click on PA.

Re: carry in PA state parks
Will this force municipalities to have to re-examine their park and rec regulations?

Re: carry in PA state parks
Nope, two separate issues.
DNCR originally banned guns based on a regulation. They have since amended the regulation. Preemption does not apply to a state agency.
Municipalities, even if they have parks bans, cannot have them due to preemption, which does apply to municipalities.
Bottom line? We've got to keep hammering away at the municipalities one at a time.

Re: carry in PA state parks
As do I with your latest offering.
I have neither seen nor heard any indication that DCNR had any desire or inclination to change their 'regulation' and permit license-holders to carry in State Parks. In the absence of that, the legislature recognized the importance of this issue and passed legislation which nullified the existing DCNR regulation.
Absent the legislature's action, things would remain unchanged.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.
