Default I shot a laser today. Its called the Savage 22-250

Every time I take this gun out I am amazed by how flat and consistant this gun/round is. It is just a Savage 22-250 with heavy barrel model 12FV with a Simmons (maybe) scope on it bought attached at Dicks for about five or so. This gun is so accurate it makes a decent rifleman out of an AK guy like myself. There was NO wind today so it made things that much better. Admittedly my range is only 100 yards but at that range I was hitting those extra black dot stickers that come with the shoot n see targets. I know thats no real feet for a seasoned shooter but it made me happy. This is the closest thing to shooting a laser that I have experienced.

Glad you are having success with that.

It's a pleasure to work with accurate tools, eh?

    What ammo were you using?

I have a CZ 550 Varmint in .22-250, and it's like that, too. With 40 grain moly-coated Barnes bullets over enough Varget to make it go ~4000 fps, it'll make a nice little cloverleaf off the bench.

Now, I want something (maybe an AR upper?) in Ruger .204. Tiny bullets approaching the speed of light!

Now you're talking, I got to dispatch a groundhog at 300 yds with a .204

The owner of the rifle was doing that at 500, I sincerely hope that I never make him mad because I'm much larger than a groundhog

Guys, I don't want to burst your bubble, but the .204 is no more a laser beam than the .22-250. The .204 shoots a lighter bullet the same speed as the .22-250 does with a heavier bullet. If you do a search here about the .204 and .22-250, you'll see a thread where I go into more detail on it. Either way, I love the .22-250, it's a heck of a flat shooting round, you're right, it's a laser beam. Don't knock yourself too much about hitting those "shoot n c" dots with that rifle. At 100 yards, if you can hit those spots, cold bore, and consistently, you're doing alot better than most. Heck yeah, .22-250 is a lovely round, wait until you discover the .22-250 AI , lol.

Hmm. Lighter bullet, same speed. Doesn't that equal flatter trajectory?

Maybe physics has changed since I was in school.
