    Default Another "which one" thread...

I have the opportunity to get one more rifle before Obama. I have narrowed it down to these three, but can only pick one. They are in order of what I want.

    Yugo SKS
    Ruger 10/22
    Mosin Nagant

The SKS is my main choice right now mainly because I already have the 7.62x39 ammo for it. I like the carbine style semi-autos and it seems pretty reliable.

The 10/22 uses cheap ammo, and I like that it is a semi-auto. It is a .22 and I'm not too fond of something less powerful. I know its a great firearm and have heard nothing but good about them.

The Mosin is a nice reliable rifle, yet I could buy it post ban for a decent price since they are bolt action. The only concern I have is it uses ammo I don't currently have and really don't want to add any more calibers to my stockpile due to possible future costs.

What do you guys think? Anything else I should know about these 3 rifles, good and bad?

I think I would get the SKS. The 10/22 will never be banned in ANY AWB. If it gets to the point where the 10/22 is banned we will have MUCH bigger problems.

The Nagant isn't going to end up on an AWB either I don't think.

The reason I was thinking the 10/22 is because I thought it was going to be part of the new ban. I sorta wanted to get one to say I had it before they are banned. How sure are you that it won't be banned?

Get the SKS because it has the ability to be High Capacity. 20, 30, and drums, if not mistaken.

Then, buy some of the 30 round 10/22 mags

    Youre... Obama-covered.

IIRC the 10/22 was specificly exempted from the AWB. But the 20+ round mags may not be available.

The SKS has a detachable magazine? I could have sworn it used a clip like the M1.

If your main reason for the purchase is getting before Obama and the new congress get in and starts banning your choices, then the only option would be the SKS. I don't see the other 2 on your list being banned.

You can take the box mag out of the sks. It does take detachable mags. Some people have had bad luck with them.

I would question the price of ammo after the big O takes office. So I would vote for the 10-22 at this point.

I guess I would have to agree which is why I would get the SKS and buy a few thousand rounds of ammo and a bunch of mags.

Unless they have gotten better the detachable mags were more trouble than they were worth. We tried several and they tended to come unlatched while firing.
