This is an odd one: out of sequence postings
I wouldn't come here to post about this unless I had seen it more than once. Tonight it happened again.
What happens is I will reply to a post (not the original post) and somehow my reply will magically show up before the person's I was commenting to/on)
It happened again tonight (ill try to find the other post) here

I thought maybe it was an issue on my end (thought extremely unlikely due to php being server side) so I tested from another browser..same thing.
I tried initially with Firefox 3.0
then with Google Chrome and finally Safari.
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

Re: This is an odd one: out of sequence postings
It's kind of puzzling since php is server based, unless javascript is being used and that's where it's getting the time from. I'd wonder they they wouldnt use the php time() function to keep as much synched up.
I'll poke around the internets a bit to see if I can find anything.

Re: This is an odd one: out of sequence postings
I thought it might happen if the 2 users have different time settings in their profiles, (-5 GMT) but upon closer inspection, this is not the case. This anomaly can only be explained by one thing... wormholes in the interweb's time space continuum.

Re: This is an odd one: out of sequence postings
Right.
I've done enough PHP to know that this shouldnt be happening based on the time() function being used (unless there are situations where it uses the mysql time rather than php time)
If that's the case, there's a difference possibility.
time() uses the server's time when a post is made, so you can enter the GMT - whatever, that just alters the view TO YOU as to when something was posted.
Everyone in PA (we have some other people but only a handful) would be EST (GMT -5)
In that case it leaves a few scenarios
1. The post times are somehow getting mixed up (db queries could show this directly)
2. The select statement isn't prioritizing the posts by post ID correctly
(should be something like select * from tablename where threadid = 'x' order by postid) *I dont know VB's exact table structure so that's a best guess
3. Wormholes in the internets.
