Default Sig Sauer P220 - negative feedback?

I have been saving my nickels to buy a P220 in .45ACP ever since I shot one back in 2001. I have done alot of research in that time frame, but have yet to come up with any negative feedback on the Sig weapons.

Any of you guys have a bad experience with a Sig? I would like to hear about it.

    Thanks.

A friend of mine has a Sig in .40 S&W. I forget the model number, but it is very nice to shoot. If I could afford one, I'd get one.

I have a P220 on lay away so I can't comment on that model yet. But I also have a Sig Trailside .22LR, a P225 P6, a P229R .40 and my CCW is a P239 .40 with CTC grips. Over all I have to say I am happy with Sig products

I would say so! Very impressive handgun collection.

Everyone I have spoken with and every article I have read says the same thing: great guns, unequaled quality, and they shoot forever. I guess that is for a reason.

I am going to go ahead and buy the P220.

I have a pretty decent collection of pistols, and my P220ST is my favorite. My only bad experience with it is when I took it to the range and forgot the mags.

The only negative you ever hear about Sigs is propensity towards rust.

Although I haven't owned a sig, I have shot a couple. They shot very well and were pretty nice, although I'm not a huge fan of the DOA trigger, I will say theirs is better than most. Their SA/DA pistols are very nice and I like them alot. I have only heard good things about them.

I will definitely go for the DA/SA. I am not a fan of the DOA guns.

I carry a two-tone P-220 every day and I have been in all kinds of weather, rain , snow, sleet, etc and never, ever has there been a rust issued with my pistol.

My sig 220 had: chipped extractor, chip from locking block, broken spring for trigger bar, sometimes failure to lock back on last round and marks on bottom of slide from take down lever hitting under recoil. All in less than 10K rounds.

I think many, but not all of problems caused/influenced by weak recoil spring. Sig upgraded and at one time, maybe still, identified upgraded recoil spring with green paint on the spring, hence you sometime heard term "green spring." I was changing recoil springs, but using old/weak style. I spent back to sig two or maybe three times with older recoil spring in and they never replaced. I found out about upgraded spring from non sig source and it immediated fixed the problem of take down lever marking/nicking bottom of slide as well as failure to always lock back on last round. Sig people just put cold blue on the mark - I was not impressed with their factory service.

I actually liked the gun and I know one experience does not prove they are all bad and some problems I do think were caused by original stock recoil spring that was weaker than current. I also understand they have upgraded the spring for trigger bar - when that breaks your trigger just flops around.

Parts were hard to get, but seem to be more available. Still parts are many and expensive comparied to primary competition - Glock. And it does not appear and easy gun to work on yourself.

Don't mean to be too negative, but you asked. And I did like the gun until about
6K rounds when the trigger bar spring broke and trigger flopped around. If you decide to buy I recommend trigger bar spring replacement about every 2K rounds. It is easy to do. Good luck whatever you decide.
