Default 32 acp for personal defense?

Is the 32 good enough for CCW. My wife insists on a particular gun and its 32. Would she be better off with a can of pepper spray or does this caliber do the job?

Well I guess 380 or 9 mm would be better, but bullet placement is key and a study shows that the 32 acp has a 53 percent stopping power.

    Good luck practice makes perfect
I like this place great people and lots of info!

Better than nothing at all. Make sure Ball ammo is used!

I'll bring my Kel-Tec P32, and a canister of OC spray...
if you were the target, which one would you prefer to be hit with?

I have one. I carry it in the summer when I'm wearing clothes that won't allow for a larger handgun. I'd rather have the .380 Kel-Tec though. It's the same size.

    +1 EM! I agree.

It's funny... You read about some loads for the .32 being as hot as the .380. Then you read about loads for the .380 being as hot as the 9mm. Then you read...

Makes me think a .32 could be equal to a .45! LOL

I have a Beretta in .32. Nice pistol, spends a lot of time in my pocket.

I carry a P32 in my front pocket quite often, and I must agree that it is better than a pointy stick, a handful of rocks or a can of pepper spray.

As mentioned above, use FMJ's and practice as much as she can with it.

Better than a .25, almost as good as a .380.
If she wants to carry a gun and her choice is .32, let her carry it. As mentioned above, the Kel-Tec .32 is the same size as the Kel-tec .380, if you can get her comfortable with the .380 I would advise that, but if she's sensitive to the recoil and is set on .32 then so be it.

I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

The caliber alone cannot and should not be the sole point evaluated for purposes of carry and use as a SD weapon. The 32 will penatrate well, and that si what stops attackers, penatration ad weight retention of the bullet post contact with soft tissue. Shot placement is also very important. A .45 to the leg is not as effective as a 32 to the chest., let alone 3 or 4 to the chest. What she needs is a weapon that she is comfortable with, confident with and willing to carry. My wife can shoot my 1911, but she's not gonna carry one so why would I buy one for her? SHe likes the 380, so I let her carry it.

Police in other countries carried 32acp for years and years..I once bought a Walther PP (32acp) that was a police trade in..It was very accurate and it probably could tell some wicked stories,,, if it could talk....

When in time of need, if your wife draws a 32 and knows how to use it..The bad guy is going down..
