    Default Sunday Hunting legislation proposed

    Circulated By
    Representative Mandy Steele
    D
    House District 33

    Memo

Some of Pennsylvania*s surrounding states permit hunters to hunt and trap on Sundays. Yet, the Commonwealth still upholds its outdated *blue law* that prohibits the practice. This law is at odds with current values and lifestyles. Hence, we should promote more flexible hunting schedules by allowing Sunday hunting and furtaking.

With this in mind, I plan to introduce legislation to repeal the current Sunday prohibition on hunting and furtaking the Commonwealth. Removing this provision of statute will:

    • Expand recreational opportunities for Pennsylvania hunters and trappers.
    • Boost wildlife conservation efforts through increased engagement.
    • Enhance economic activity in Pennsylvania*s rural areas.
    • Increase revenue collected from the issuance of hunting licenses.
    • More accurately reflect today*s modern values, making Pennsylvania an attractive destination for sportsmen and sportswomen.

Although the Commonwealth has slowly moved to allow limited permissions, fully repealing this prohibition would maximize the benefits rendering continual hunting schedule and regulation adjustments unnecessary. This is a companion to Senator Laughlin*s Senate Bill 67.

This measure not only supports sportspersons, but bolsters the state*s economy. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation in support of Pennsylvania hunters.

All Dems? Nevertheless, without getting into the controversy of Sunday hunting, trapping on Sundays has always been legal.

Probably just going against blue laws or anything having to do with non-Mooselimb religion.

Having said that, I'm all for it despite Ma Tradition.

In before devolving into the 'Saturday first day of deer season is bad' whinefest.

But I agree. I just don't get it. You can't hunt, and it's very difficult to buy a car on a Sunday because very, very few tag places are open.
