I like giving the condemned a choice for the execution method.

Not a fan of cruel and unusual, that isn't immediate in every instance:

• Electric chair
• Lethal injection
• Hanging

I'm good with lights out quick:

• Firing squad
• Guillotine

When done properly, hanging is very quick. It breaks the neck. Done wrong and they choke.

As I understand it, one of the three members of the firing squad is randomly issued a blank cartridge so he has psychological plausible deniability to himself that he killed someone. They volunteer to do it so not sure if this actually necessary.

As for lethal injection, I understand that the chemicals they use are sub-par because the good shit is made in Europe and Europe refuses to sell it to the US because they are anti-capital punishment, so the process is often painful and protracted. I also understand old sparky sometimes has hiccups or they just fuck it up so you sit there sparking and smoking for a painful protracted time till your blood boils.

So, given the three choices, I'm firing squad all day.
