Firearms bought out of state.
My son lived in Louisiana for most of his life, then 8 yrs ago he moved to Pennsylvania. He brought his firearms with him. Now he wants to get a CC, but is being told by law enforcement that he cannot do so with one of his current firearms because they were not purchased in PA. They told him that he would have to purchase a firearm in PA. Da hell kind of crap is that?
Down here in Louisiana we have pretty lax gun laws, which from what I read, are similar to PA's, but no where do I see anything like that. I mean a CC gives you "permission" to conceal carry any pistol, who cares where it came from or where you got it right?

Re: Firearms bought out of state.
License to carry firearms is not tied to the pistol you carry. As long as he is the owner of the firearm, he is good to go with said LTCF

Re: Firearms bought out of state.
I don't know what you mean by "told by law enforcement". He should google for the web site for the Sheriff's Dept for the county where he resides. Print the application for PA LTCF, and fill it out and submit it. There will be no issue or conversation about any firearms. Some counties also have an online application that can be completed and submitted.
Let us know how it goes. While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: Firearms bought out of state.
You do not need to own a firearm to get a LTCF so someone's getting bad information. Our sheriffs issue the licenses through the county courthouse in the county in which he resides.
